Myanmar is a country with endless potential, blessed with a landmass approximately three times the size of the Korean Peninsula, and rich in human and natural resources including natural gas, minerals, and timber. Its strategic importance is clearly demonstrated by its location at a geopolitical crossroads of Asia and the Indian Ocean.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1975, Korea and Myanmar have built a strong foundation of mutual trust and understanding through five decades of exchange between our peoples.

Many people in Myanmar enjoy Korean dramas and cuisine, and the number of Korean language test takers and Taekwondo students continues to grow. This cultural bond serves as a solid basis for our relationship.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has made it its top priority to defend the safety and interests of Korean nationals and businesses in Myanmar.
